Based on our experience after working with many universities and international students, we have created a must-have listing of items that you will need to have in order to study an master’s degree in the U.S. Please note that each university has its own additional requirements that could affect your chances of being admitted, as well as the amount of scholarship money you obtain. On a general basis, these additional requirements are not difficult to obtain, and our team members will make sure that you have the right assistance during the process.

Undergraduate degree diploma and transcripts

Picture
U.S. universities usually require a GPA of 3 out of 4 points to admit an international student in one of their master’s degree programs. If you are still pursuing your bachelor's degree, you will need to indicate to us your current GPA, your expected GPA, and when you are planning to obtain your undergraduate degree diploma. Please use this source to find out  how your local GPA is translated into a U.S. GPA.

Test of English as a Foreign Language

Picture
You need to take the TOEFL (Test Of English as a second Language) ibt exam to verify your English language proficiency. To find out more about the test, or schedule an appointment close to your home, visit the following link. This link describes you the different sections of the TOEFL ibt exam. In case you have taken one of the oldest versions of the TOEFL exam (i.e. cbt or paper-based) please download this file to know the equivalent score you would obtain in the new ibt exam. The last link we would like to share with you shows the equivalency between different scores for different exams such as the TOEFL ibt, Cambridge, IELTS, etc.

U.S. universities usually require a TOEFL score of 61 out of 120 to admit an international student in one of their Master's programs. If you think you do not have the appropriate level of English language proficiency required, please do not get discouraged. Alternatively, you can join Epro 360’s “English as a Second Language” ESL Program, and improve your English skills to make sure you obtain the TOEFL score that you need to start your Graduate Program. Please visit the ESL Program section for further details.

Additional exams will boost your chances of being admitted in the best schools and receive a higher scholarship.

GRE, or any exam specific for the area that you would like to specialize in (e.g. GMAT for business studies). Even though there are many universities in the U.S. that do not require GRE, there are many others that do require an additional exam to be admitted. In order to increase the scope of your opportunities, we encourage all our students to take this additional exam, which could the GRE, GMAT, or many other (please discuss with an Epro 360 representative for further information and guidance). There is not a specific score that we could say it is required by most universities. It will depend on the requirement for each university and the specific exam you are taking. Please visit the following link for more information about the GRE exam and the following link to know more about the GMAT exam.
